October is breast cancer awareness month and to show support everyone is wearing pink. In the spirit of support here are some pictures of a pink katydid. Ordinarily green and leaf-like in appearance this genetic defect occurs in about 1 in 500 katydids and is very rare. The phenomenon is called erythrism and is similar to the recessive gene that affects albino animals.
